Dr. Bronner’s Organic Magic Balm

Ever since my daughter came along, my beauty routine has gotten…well, let’s just say it’s become less about facials and bubble baths, and more about emergency ponytails before gymnastics and that’s where Dr. Bronner’s Organic Magic Balm comes in!

This little gem from the world of organic beauty is a lifesaver for dry skin, scrapes, and everything in between.  Not a mom? You still need this!

And the best part?

It’s made with all-natural, organic ingredients that I can feel good about putting on myself and my little one.

Dr. Bronner’s Organic Magic Balm Powerhouse Ingredients

This balm is jam-packed with amazing organic goodies, each with its own special superpowers for your skin:

Organic Beeswax:

Imagine tiny worker bees buzzing around a honeycomb, diligently creating this natural wax.  Beeswax helps the Magic Balm lock in moisture because it creates a protective barrier that keeps your skin hydrated.

Fun fact: Did you know a single beehive can produce up to 150 pounds of beeswax in a year? That’s a lot of busy bees!

Organic Coconut Oil:

We all love the taste of coconut, but it’s also fantastic for your skin!  Coconut oil is packed with fatty acids that help reduce inflammation and keep your skin feeling soft and smooth.  Think of it like a tropical vacation for your skin –  without the plane ticket!

Those fatty acids in your coconut oil are little firefighters. When your skin gets irritated, it’s like a mini fire. These fatty acids help douse the flames by reducing inflammation and keeping your skin calm and comfortable.

Ok, Fatty acids from coconut oil don’t directly extinguish the “fire” like water, but they act more like helpful mediators. Imagine the irritated area is a heated argument between your skin cells. Fatty acids can work in two ways:

– Calming the Signalers: They can block the messengers that tell your body to send more inflammatory troops to the area. This reduces the intensity of the response.

– Supporting the Resolution: They also help your body create more molecules that signal the “argument” is over and it’s time to clean up and repair the area. This speeds up healing and reduces overall inflammation.

According to a study published in the International Journal of Dermatology, applying coconut oil improved mild to moderate eczema symptoms in over 60% of participants. That’s pretty impressive!

Did you know that coconut oil contains lauric acid, which has antimicrobial properties, making it beneficial for treating acne and protecting the skin from harmful bacteria? Want to learn more about coconut oil? Read my article here!

Organic Avocado Oil:

This creamy oil, squeezed from everyone’s favorite green fruit, is rich in vitamins A, E, and D.

These vitamins work together to promote healthy collagen production, which keeps your skin plump and youthful.  And unlike some other oils, avocado oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly, so you won’t feel greasy.  Next time you make guacamole, take a moment to appreciate the avocado’s amazing skin benefits too!

Organic Jojoba Oil:

This liquid gold comes from the jojoba plant, a shrub native to the American Southwest.  Jojoba oil is similar to the natural oils our skin produces, so it absorbs easily and won’t clog your pores.

It’s also a natural anti-inflammatory and can help soothe irritation from sunburn, bug bites, or even diaper rash on your little one’s bum!  Isn’t nature amazing?

U.S.-grown Hemp Seed Oil:

Don’t worry, this oil won’t get you high! Hemp seed oil is abundant in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, crucial for maintaining healthy skin. These fatty acids enhance the skin’s barrier and aid in keeping it moisturized.

In case you need a refresher: Our bodies can’t make omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids on their own, so we need to get them from our diet!

Before you ask, let me tell you: Both are important for healthy skin! BUT they work in different ways…

– Omega-3s: Think of these as firefighters. They have anti-inflammatory properties, which means they help calm irritation and redness. This can be helpful for conditions like eczema or psoriasis.

Studies have even shown that people who consume more omega-3s have smoother, more hydrated skin. You can find omega-3s in fatty fish like salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts.

– Omega-6s: Imagine these as the building blocks of your skin’s cell walls. They help keep your skin barrier strong and healthy, which is important for keeping moisture in and irritants out.

Omega-6s can also promote wound healing. However, too many omega-6s can actually tip the scales and worsen inflammation. Safflower oil, sunflower seeds, and corn oil are all rich in omega-6s.

The key is to find a balance between omega-3s and omega-6s in your diet. Aim for a ratio of 1:1 to 4:1 omega-6 to omega-3.  This will help your skin stay healthy, balanced, and glowing!

Fun fact:

Hemp is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth, which means it’s a sustainable source for this amazing skin care ingredient!

So, Dr. Bronner’s Organic Magic Balm is a little miracle worker.

I was used to the French version called Homeoplasmine but I cannot find it in the USA so this is a great option. This is the kind of thing you should always have with you…Oh I use it on my cuticles as well…
